Bang For Your Buck: Action

Here are a few action games that might be worth your money, but  before we start here’s a handy dandy legend for you:

$ – Not worth buying
$$ – Worth Renting First
$$$ – Buy When Cheap
$$$$ – Definite Buy
With 2017 upon us, there are alot of games coming out this year worth your attention and hard earned money. This article will be the first in the series called Bang For Your Buck. So, lets get started with some Action games. Its known that everyone loves a good action game here and there and this year will feature a good amount but for today lets go over 3 big ones, For Honor, God of War 4 & Spider-man.

For Honor

for-honorFor Honor takes a unique twist on 3 factions from history and pits them together in what could only be described as a language barrier gone wrong. For Honor takes place in a world where Vikings, French Medieval Knights and Samurai have converged into the same space and time for one reason or another and during what could only be described as a fight for survival turned ugly quickly as an unknown antagonist disrupts what would have been peaceful negotiations into all out war for survival among the 3 factions.

So what makes For Honor so appealing? Let’s start with the obvious, For Honor takes what made the Dynasty Warriors franchise so popular and places it into 3 unique factions with their own fighting styles and weapons. The other thing that makes For Honor appealing to many is its robust single and multiplayer campaigns. Single player is what it is, you take control of a faction and play out their struggle to survive. But multiplayer seems to be where the money’s at. In multiplayer, you command your troops as a hero of your particular faction against NPCs and other players in what seems to be a more advanced version of attack and defend from the Battlefield series.

But does that make you want it? Well, to the gamer who loves this style of game would buy it in a heart beat but to others you may want to wait and see. From gameplay shown, For Honor shows us that there is still some creativity out there in a world full of reboots and failed franchises. I would say For Honor is a $$$.

God of War 4

gow-4Ahh yes, Kratos has returned after what could only be described as a Stargate: Universe ending (did that hurt?). But Kratos has survived his shanking and plunge and arose in… Asgard? No you weren’t drunk on Mead but it appears that Kratos has left his Grecian realm for the home of the Norse Gods. Now this sounds like the beginning of a bad TV movie but from what I believe was the remaining Greek Gods banded together to use their remaining power to send Kratos into the future and into Asgard so that one could guess to repair all the damage he inflicted.

So why should you care? Well any long time fan of the franchise and for extremely violent video games would tell you why not. But to a gamer looking into this franchise might be hesitant in getting involved and for good reason. From all the footage shown, which isn’t much right now, however God of War 4 looks to be something new in a franchise that has worn out its welcome with certain gamers and to anyone out there that is may just be familiar with Santa Monica Studios is that they do not venture away from making sure that everything is perfect with their games.

So… does it make you want to buy it? Anyone out there that might be looking for some over the top violence with an intriguing story would be [dumb] not to give this game a rent. As with any Santa Monica GOW game, there are always more interesting items than they reveal. I would say God of War 4 is a $$$$.

Spiderman PS4

spiderman-ps4It’s been awhile since we’ve seen our friendly neighborhood web swinger in action in a game and with the last one not being as good as it should, it begs will anyone take notice. Well lets begin with whats going on, it appears that our favorite New Yorker is back strolling the streets of NYC when he needs to swing into action (no pun intended) to take care of some thugs. But what makes it so appealing? Well, not much because Insomniac Studios (Ratchet & Clank, Spyro) hasn’t really released much. But one thing is for sure, the game adds new elements to your standard web slinging with the introduction of Parkour elements.

So why really care about it? Well since Spiderman hasn’t had a warm welcoming in recent years, it should be known that with Insomniac helming this title, the normal banter some many fans love about the wall crawler will be better than its ever been and if you don’t believe me, take a look at the long history of back and forth banter of the Ratchet & Clank franchise. But does it make you really want to buy it just because of the banter? No, absolutely not.

Well… are you convinced? Honestly, with all the bad entries of Spiderman haven’t been the best and in-fact, it kinda reminds me of every game after Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 (yea I know) I wouldn’t be ready to drop a good amount of money for something that doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. But if we get more footage showing more of the game, then I might change my tune. But for now, I would say Spiderman for PS4 is a $$

I know that this is not every game coming out this year but as more games come up, we will continue to let you know what looks to be the best way to spend your money. Take what we say with a grain of salt but always remember to do your own research and don’t always take someone’s word for it because their opinion is their own, even ours.
