Destiny 2 Has Been Revealed

Today, Bungie finally revealed Destiny 2 and all its glory. As a player of the original, I am very skeptical of the next iteration in the franchise, especially when so many problems and outcrys’ went unanswered. The worst part was that when they unofficially announced Destiny 2, they were working on the game at their pace, then entered Activision and their ultimatum; finish the game this year (2017) or face heavy penalties. Bungie could have waited till christmas to release the game but instead opt’d for a September release.

Everything should be screaming in your head “NO!” or “STOP”, but there is nothing stopping them now and thankfully, we finally have information with the reveal trailer below:

So what is going on?

Well… back in our article for the reveal trailer, we talked about how in that mission called “Outbound Signal” there was a signal sent to Ghaul, the commander of the Red Legion and they came. So Destiny 2 starts off with a mission called “Homecoming” where Ghaul has shown up and the uphill battle begins to try and save the Tower. Let’s just say things don’t go well.

What’s new?

Bungie is toting a lot of new features that fans were crying for in the first. One of the biggest things is new worlds, and the fact that they will be bigger, offering new Outposts or ‘safe havens’ you can enter for new missions, encounters, etc. The new planets are:

  • Earth (new locations)
  • Titan
  • Nessus
  • Io

Another new item that fans were screaming for was not having to go to orbit to start a new activity, a problem that fans were screaming to fix since day one.

What about the classes?

Thankfully, it is still the Titan, Hunter and Warlock. Each of which is gaining new abilities such as:

Titan: Sentinel – creates a shield that you can bash enemies or throw (just like Captain America).

Hunter: Arcstrider – creates an electrical staff that does what you think.

Warlock: Dawnblade – creates a massive flaming sword you can swing or toss for massive damage.

Clans are also coming back in a big way, ll it something flashy for you and your crew but now you can create an in game roster with other players to perform Strikes, Raids and the Nightfall. Doing away with having to send messages to other players in the hopes of getting a response. The other is Guided Games, which just like above, allows for you to join an open slot to play with others.

What about the Crucible?

Well, I was never a fan of the Crucible, you know this is supposed to be an MMO not a PvP game with MMO capabilites but Bungie won’t leave those who love it in the dust. The Crucible will now be a 4v4 across all game modes and will be redesigning the HUD to see if other players have a super ready or if they have heavy ammo. They are also introducing a new mode called “Countdown” which is, in-essence an attack and defend mode.

Are you interested?

As much as they have shown today and what we have told you, keep your guard up if you were a player that felt cheated from the first one, however there will be a beta later this summer (most likely June or July) and when that drops, give it a shot. This is the studio that did give us Halo, one of the greatest FPS’ out there. I plan on giving it a run before I make an investment but if you are still with us, take a look below at Bungie’s live stream.
