Destiny 2 is Dead, Now What?

It’s no secret that Destiny 2, although better than the original has finally hit its brick wall and gamers are non too happy that the first DLC isn’t coming out till December. If you have been on Youtube recently, the number of players becoming restless and slamming the game have become more and more frequent, but let’s look at the positive. As we approach the holiday season, there are a plethora of games coming out that are vying for your hard earned money that can also fill the void that Destiny 2 is growing by the day, so let’s take a look at a few.

Star Wars Battlefront 2

Made by DICE and EA, battlefront 2 takes you on a trip during the 30 years between episode 6 and 7. Mixed with a solid campaign which puts you into the boots of a special ops soldier for the Empire, looking to carryout the final orders of the Emperor and a multiplayer mode that extends across the entire film franchise that features classic battlefield modes mixed with both ground and space battles. Battlefront 2 does a great job in fixing issues that were present in its predecessor along with expanding the feel that you are truly in the midst of a battle by what I can only describe as “Chaotic Beauty” (click here to read our take on the beta).

The one thing that makes Battlefront 2 a great choice to take up your time from Destiny 2 is the expansive options in multiplayer along with the ability to upgrade your characters with Star Cards leading to hours of play-ability. The only thing that would make this even better would be a horde mode style co-op, but we can dream right DICE?

Call of Duty: World War 2

Returning to its basic style, Call of Duty: WW2 returns to the war that made this series popular. However, this title is left in the hands of Sledgehammer Games (most fans would groan at this), Call of Duty is most likely still at the top of the PvP world and featuring the same, insane combat that fans will always expect.

The one thing that makes COD:WW2 a good choice for you is if you are strictly a PvP player. Most of the Call of Duty games (except for MW series) have had mediocre stories that have only lasted about 6 to 8 hours, but with a robust weapon system, COD does make it up by giving players items to work for and with the prestige system, it keeps veteran players around for a long time. Another item is that COD does regularly add new maps to keep things fresh.

Middle Earth: Shadows of War

The sequel to Shadows of Mordor, Shadows of War continues the saga of Talion as he continues to rid the world of Sauron. As you progress through the game world, it uses the Nemesis System which tracks your progress and changes the game world to conform to your play style, which means if you save one enemy, they will remember you later on.

Since Shadows of War does not PvP, it does continue its successful formula of a rich and deep story mode that complements its robust fighting schematics that will please anyone that is looking for something more than just a PvP game with a hint of PvE. This game is something that fans of PvE would love to play and sink long hours into it.

Wolfenstein: The New Colossus

A direct sequel to The New Order, Wolfenstein: The New Colossus has everyone’s favorite protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz returns to 1960’s America as Germany used ancient technology to win WW2. What makes this game amazing is that Wolfenstein has never really conformed to this or that, rather it goes with gorgeous artwork and outlandish weapons that make for a truly awesome experience.

There is no multiplayer per-say, rather an immersive story that will captivate you with a “what if” style of story telling with characters that will appeal to many players. Which in turn, does allow for a richer experience that most games on the list do not have which if you compare against Destiny 2 does not usually have.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins

After a long, historic lineage that has been built, Assassin’s Creed Origins that takes you back to Ancient Egypt that explores the origins of both the Templars & Assassins and their centuries long feud. Although a small departure from the timeline that was being established, Assassin’s Creed Origins does a good job of showing you how it all began.

With no PvP mode, Assassin’s Creed creates a story that sheds some light that not many people knew rather than theorize how this all began. The only issue that is apparent is the time period that they are establishing is (in my opinion) not accurate in the terms of the hidden blade construction which is minuet. But if you have played an Assassin’s Creed game, they have continually evolved the controls and made the game more enjoyable.
