Destiny: The Taken King Review

The Taken King DLC finally dropped on 9/15/15. This DLC is jam packed with huge new content, bringing a different, more improved feel in the game. The gameplay and the graphics are still very consistent, but the story has now come to life with Oryx, the Taken King now on the march and the characters are realizing the imminent threat that is upon them.

We talked about the changes in the items, such as new guns, new armor and even new sub class abilities for each type of character. The level cap has increased to 40 and now you can equip new artifacts to increase the stats to your character. Marks and even ghost shells have abilities now to help improve your character. One of the bigger changes is the removal of the light level and you now gain experience just like any other game to increase to 40. Instead, the light level is an average number based on the strength your weapons and your armor.

The currency has changed as Destiny removed the Crucible marks and the vanguard marks to make legendary marks on top of the usual glimmer. Legendary arks are used to purchase any legendary gear for your character. Even the bounty system and the quest system as changed up that gives you better ideas of what your tracking and the details on each quest. I cannot even begin to describe all the smaller niche changes that have occurred in game.

The Taken are a new threat in the game and they are ruthless to say the least. They are hard to kill and show zero mercy in trying to extinguish your light. They have unique abilities and will stop and nothing to crush your soul and have your will submit to Oryx.

This new DLC has really amped up the game and has redeemed itself. If you were playing Destiny before, jump on and check out The Taken King DLC. If you haven’t picked it up yet, now would be the best time to pick it up so you can experience the action and the thrills for yourself. I give Destiny: the Take King a 8.8 out of 10.
