Super Smash Bros + Switch = ???

As one of the best selling franchises for Nintendo in the past 20 years, it was no surprise that during an interview with Nintendo of America’s president Reggie Fils-Aime announced that Super Smash Bros, a franchise that has seen success since its debut back in 1999 would be returning for their newest console.

“Smash is obviously one of our best-selling franchises,” which he told Katie Linendoll during a live facebook stream on March 9th (via GoNintendo) “What we say is that the philosophy that Nintendo has from a development standpoint is that for every platform, we want to have at least one [each] of our classic franchises. “There’s gonna be one great Super Mario experience, there’s gonna be great Zelda experience, so you can expect, you can anticipate at some point in the future, who knows when, that all of our franchises will be addressed. We know that the fans love these games, love this content, so stay tuned.”

The latest entry, Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS sold 9.58 million copies (as of 12/31/14) on the Wii U and 3DS. So this comes as no surprise that with the release of a new Zelda game (which debuted along with the console), Mario Kart debuting on 4/28/17 and Super Mario Odyssey releasing sometime during the Holiday of 2017, that Super Smash Bros would be also coming to the console.
As of right now, there is no release date set for the game but you can most likely expect more news (or maybe a release date???) to drop later this year; most likely at E3 or TGS.
