Battlefield 1 Review

When you think of Battlefield, you think of modern day warfare on an epic scale and with the glitch filled Battlefield 4 and the Cops and Robbers Hardline; one would wonder if they would ever regain their glory. With Call of Duty heading into the possible future of war, Battlefield got everyone with a trip back in time to World War 1. The biggest question is can Battlefield perform better than its previous 2 titles?
Story:
With most first person shooters, story is paramount to the ever growing demand for better multiplayer but with Battlefield 1’s story; they showed everyone that you can still have an amazingly diverse campaign while still offering a solid multiplayer experience. The story of Battlefield 1 takes players in an interesting turn, by splitting up their campaign into 5 chapters offering a different look at the Great War and that’s not the more interesting part. Battlefield 1 takes the players into the lives of 5 different soldiers and regales you with their own ‘personal’ account of the war.
This is a bit different than your normal campaign that gives you only 1 persons’ perspective, but this maybe Battlefield’s best campaign ever, by giving you 5 different perspectives. Each chapter’s character has their own voice, own mannerisms and even their own viewpoint about their involvement which is a very nice change and gives the player a nice change of pace.

Story

I give the story: 9 out of 10.
Graphics:
Unfortunately it is hard to rate the graphics as with the previous 2 titles has come in with a lot of graphic issues (im sorry to bring up Battlefield 4). But it appears that Battlefield 1 has found a way to rectify the issues of the past and even brought some improvements. From the look of the weapons to the actual Battlefield, the team at DICE has taken the criticism from fans and placed more attention into the most minuet details. However, there are still some issues with minor items such as bushes and trees that can take away from the overall look of each map.
With that, DICE has taken the graphics capability of their signature levelution system and transformed it into one that will truly make you feel immersed in the game; whether you are playing the campaign or playing multiplayer. With that said, most people would agree whatever, right? But the one thing that DICE did was truly make the theater of war come to life with every bomb, every bullet transforming the terrain into a scene from Saving Private Ryan. It’s easy to get lost when playing online, so don’t look for too long.

Graphics

I give the graphics: 9.2 out of 10
Gameplay:
If there was one area that Battlefield shined, it was in its gameplay and Battlefield 1 is no different. Where titles such as Call of Duty move more in a general control scheme, Battlefield prides itself on making every gun, character and vehicle feel authentic. Although, with such a unique system there are bound to be problems and with Battlefield 1 that is no difference. There are some instances of bad hit detection or none at all, vehicles glitching during multiplayer matches and in rare occurrences, random jumping controls, but nothing a patch can’t fix.

Gameplay

I give the gameplay: 7.5 out of 10.

Final Score
